Instituto Terra participa de iniciativa da Fundação Renova que busca construir de maneira colaborativa Programa de Educação para Revitalização da bacia do Rio Doce
O programa de Educação Ambiental Terrinhas do Instituto Terra é uma das iniciativas selecionadas pela Fundação Renova e apresentada no Encontro de Prosa e Saberes para a Revitalização da Bacia do Rio Doce, entre os dias 27 e 28 de setembro, no Parque Estadual do Rio Doce.
Fortalecendo as iniciativas em rede e os conhecimentos tradicionais locais, o encontro tem por objetivo compartilhar experiências e boas práticas que acontecem na Bacia do Doce nas áreas de educação, proteção e revitalização dos recursos naturais. As 43 iniciativas selecionadas também vão ajudar a compor o Programa de Educação para Revitalização da Bacia do Rio Doce e serão publicadas em um livro.Participam do evento representando o Instituto Terra, Isabella Salton, diretora Executiva, e Gladys Nunes, Analista de Educação.
O Projeto Terrinhas – Programa de educação ambiental do Instituto Terra voltado para escolas de nível fundamental, o Projeto Terrinhas forma monitores ambientais mirins entre alunos das escolas participantes, visando multiplicar o saber ambiental no ambiente de ensino e também nas comunidades envolvidas. Os “Terrinhas” – como são carinhosamente chamados os alunos formados – recebem informação para atuar nos projetos pedagógicos de educação ambiental desenvolvidos nas escolas, entre eles as hortas escolares.
O Projeto Terrinhas teve inicio no ano de 2005, em parceria com a Unesco e a Rede Globo/Projeto Criança Esperança, e já foi selecionado por duas vezes pela Unesco como projeto modelo de educação ambiental.O programa do Instituto Terra já atendeu um total de 91 escolas de cinco municípios da região do médio Rio Doce, formando 375 alunos Terrinhas, capacitando mais de 856 professores, e somando como beneficiários indiretos cerca de 3.926 alunos e mais de 6 mil pessoas das comunidades envolvidas.
