Institute Terra becomes the first Advanced Post of
the Biosphere Reserve in the Minas Gerais state

 

The Institute Terra RPPN Bulcão Farm received officially in April, 2009 the title of Advanced Post of the RBMA. That means that it will work as a center for diffusion of the principles and projects at the RBMA, incorporating the most comprehensive network of institutions dedicated to the conservation of the Atlantic Forest biome. The Institute is the first unit of conservation to receive this title in Minas Gerais.

To become an Advanced Post, the Institute Terra needed to proof that develops on a regular basis and in a measurable way, significant shares in the three basic functions of the Biosphere Reserves - Conservation, Knowledge and Sustainable Development - as defined MaB UNESCO Program.

Born from a demanding process of analysis, monitoring and evaluation, this recognition title will be valid for the period of four years and it may be renewed uncountable times, for a similar period.

The RBMA's mission is to contribute effectively to establish a harmonious relationship between human society and the environment in the area of the Atlantic Forest.
